Does Todd even sign in any more? :P

What should I eat after my workout? I workout after work at 1am. Should I eat something after? I always thought food was bad right before bed?

HOLLA! ::)

Theoretically yes, eating right before going to bed is not a good time to eat much, depending on what it is. However, the 15-30 minutes immediately following your workout is the best time to eat. Why you ask? Well, it is because while you are working out your body is burning all the fuel in storage and using up all the nutrients. If you eat the proper food immediately after working out, you will be replacing those nutrients and having them target the needed areas.

Now to answer the other part of your question, the right food will depend on the type of workout you are doing. Being late at night, try to stay away from starches, as the body has a harder time of breaking it down. Try to find something with less than 15g of fat per serving. For example, a can of Tuna (in water) with some lemon juice and a medium sized apple will give you the protein you need for muscle rebuild and the apple will give you the carbs and sugars your body is going to be craving to keep from cannibalizing itself. Plus the added benefit will be that it won't be too heavy on your stomach to break down before going to bed.

Sorry to be so long winded, hope this helps since Todd hasn't been on here in awhile. Also, don't forget! Drink lots of water immediately after, it will help with the muscle re hydration and keep from having muscle cramps and being sore the next day.
